Day 5: Fes

The whole day will be dedicated to the discovery of Fes. The visit will start with Fes el Jedid. That part of town was added to it in the 13th century, because the old medina could not absorb population growth anymore. Once the Princes residence, it is nowadays the noisy realm of Berber carpets merchants, snake charmers and story tellers. Wandering through the city, you will discover the Alaouite Square, the Royal Palace, the old Mechouar and the Mellah. You will then visit the part of town called el Bali, one of the largest mediaeval cities in the world. Built in 809 under Idriss II, Fes el Bali features some of the most beautiful constructions of Morocco. Its medersas (qoranic schools) and mosques, pearls of the 14th century Merinide dynasty architecture were the reason why UNESCO listed it as world cultural heritage. Traditional lunch in a palace of Fes Medina. Resuming your walk, you will discover the tanneries, the Andalusian district and the Karaouiyne district. Dinner and overnight at Riad Reda or similar. (Riad Fès)

Day 6: Fes – Beni Mellal – Marrakesh (480km)

After breakfast, we will be heading to Immouzer Kandar and Azrou, a Berber town well-known for its agricultural cooperatives. Driving through forests and mountains, we will reach Beni Mellal for lunch. Continuation to Marrakesh. Dinner and overnight at Tichka Salam or similar. (The Pearl ou Royal Palm)

Day 7: Marrakesh

A full day will be dedicated to the discovery of this charming and impressive “imperial” town and of its monuments. In the morning, you will visit historical monuments: Menara Gardens and Water Basin, the Koutoubia Mosque, Saadian Tombs and Dar Si Said museum or Bahia Palace. In the afternoon, you will discover the labyrinthine souks and their countless small workshops bustling with activity, as well as Djemaa El Fna Square, with its open air entertainment. Dinner and overnight at Tichka Salam or similar. (The Pearl ou Royal Palm)
